Last Friday night (as said in my best Katy Perry voice…) a couple of us we-like-to-stay-in-on-Fridays folk got chatting on Twitter and decided that a TweetUp is long overdue and that with the Christmas holidays coming up it would give us a good opportunity to get together for a real life social again.
TweetUp: A real-life meeting organised on the social networking site Twitter
A lot of Tweeps have plans to meet certain other Tweeps IRL based on the good rapport through conversations and interactions they’ve built up online. A TweetUp is a perfect, safe, environment to meet up especially if the Tweep you’ve always wanted to meet actually does turn out to be a creep. LOL!
Tweep: (Tweeps) Twitterites that follow each other from one social media/network to another..
As the best of things happen; there really isn’t a Grand Plan to this event. In fact, at this stage we’re not even quite sure of the date, time nor venue. But we’re pretty sure it will be a lunchtime affair and we’ll definitely all be getting together before Christmas Day.
The Twits will be gathering on Friday, 21 December 2012 (from 6pm) at the Alba Lounge at the Cape Town V&A Waterfront. It is a really spiffy cocktail lounge with views to die for. Very centrally located too.
I’m going to have to save all my festive ideas from my Pinterest board for another event during the holidays but at least I can confidently tick off Surf, Sea, Sand and Sun for a perfect start to another Christmas in the southern hemisphere.
It comes as absolutely no surprise that the generosity and good spirit of Tweeps would attach itself to an event of this nature and there are mutterings about which charity we could support in lieu of buying each other gifts. These guys are fab!
RSVP here if you can join us.
If you have already decided to join us and you have your own website, you may want to drop the following code in to pull through the TwtVite for this event onto your site:
