Count your blessings

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Way back in the early 2000’s I decided to make and give out Gratitude Journals to close family and friends as Christmas gifts instead of the usual gifting options.  I had been keeping a Gratitude Journal at my bedside for some time after being inspired by an episode of Oprah 🙂

I learnt a great deal from the experience; about what was truly important to me as, on reflection, all the entries had common themes. My values essentially.  It was good to know.  Some were a revelation to me at the time.

In 2011 I started sharing my thanks publicly on FaceBook. My good friend Kerry also took up the One Month Of Gratitude challenge and has continued with it again.  She   kicked off her journey this year on FaceBook and has also blogged a challenge to her own friends.  You can read her full story here.  Another one of my friends, Jackie, also announced enthusiastically that she too would be joining us in One Month of Gratitude this year.

It’s not how you choose to capture your thoughts of thanks but that you simply do it that is important I suppose. So, whether you blog, FaceBook, Tweet, pray or journal in any other form or manner – you can do it.

Enjoy the journey.

Here’s a link to my Pinterest board (hint hint) which summarizes all the One Month Of Gratitude posts.
